Duplicate Letting Units in Seconds: Step-by-Step

When managing multiple letting units within the same property--such as an HMO or a block of flats--the process of adding each one individually can be time-consuming. Fortunately, the Tenancy Manager section of the Tenancy Builder offers a quick and efficient way to duplicate existing records.

Navigating to Letting Units

To begin:

  1. Visit the Tenancy Builder.
  2. In the left-hand sidebar, go to Tenancy ManagerLetting Units.
  3. To add a new letting unit from scratch, click the Add button.

However, for faster data entry when adding similar units, you can copy an existing record instead.

Using the Copy Feature

When you've already entered one letting unit, such as:

Room 1
23 Any Street
Any Town
Postcode

You can duplicate it quickly:

  1. Find the letting unit in the list.
  2. Click Copy on the right-hand side, or use the Actions button on the left and select Copy.
  3. A new letting unit record will be created with the exact details pre-filled.
  4. Update the relevant information--for example, change Room 1 to Room 2.
  5. Click Save.

Repeat this process as needed for each unit.

When Is This Useful?

This feature is especially handy if:

  • You're managing an HMO with multiple rooms.
  • You're entering several flats in the same building.
  • Most of the letting unit details (such as address and postcode) are the same.

By using the Copy function, you significantly cut down on repetitive data entry and reduce the risk of input errors.
